The other 0.3. instrument, illustrating the poem Les Echecs amoureux (fig.26), is also French and played by a lady, although her fingers rather give the impression of having just had a strange pair of dulcimer hammers thrust into them for a 'sitting'.

The stringing is, however, rather more convincing, 12 single courses, although shown with no saddles or other end stops, fastened directly onto the soundboard.
