assume that an even distribution over each continent is intended; the
present study only discovered one player in Australasia, precious few
in Africa (only vague references from Egypt), and none from South America;
also:

It is just
possible that fractionally more than 50% of the world's nations have had some
contact with the instrument, but again this is misleading, even if true, for
only a tiny part of the worlds land mass is inhabited by people who are familiar
with them.
