CHAPTER 4: Dulcimers in the British Isles since 1800 > Dulcimers in Southern Ireland

2002 and later

Christie Burns has written about discoveries she has made in the context of a thesis for UCLA:

"Seamus Brady, in Waterford, who built one from plans in a magazine and practically makes it sing, as he plays to mimick his own sean nos singing style.

"Mary Phelan of Donegal, who wants so much to improve her dulcimer playing that during her first and only trip to America, she did no sightseeing, but rather spent all of her time at Augusta learning from Karen Ashbrook ...

"And so on..."

Her work has resulted in a popular and ongoing dulcimer festival.
