CHAPTER 4: Dulcimers in the British Isles since 1800 > Dulcimers in Southern Ireland

Unknown in Dublin

Enquiries of anyone in Dublin who might be expected to know where there were dulcimer-players drew almost a total blank; I already had leads to two players, but apart from them, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eirann, Dr. Breandan Breathnach, University College, and the folk at Dublin's informal centre for live music, O'Donahue's, all were unable to help.

I was directed to a dulcimer tutor in Walton's, the big music shop in Dublin, but they had never heard of a dulcimer, and tried to sell me a harp instead.
